Florida executes Michael King for 2008 murder of Denise Amber Lee
On Tuesday evening, 54-year-old Michael King was executed by lethal injection at Raiford prison in Florida. King had been sentenced to death in 2009 for the 2008 kidnapping, rape, and murder of 21-year-old Denise Amber Lee in North Port. Lee's two young children, who were present during the kidnapping, were physically unharmed. Officials confirmed King's death at 18:13 local time. This event marks the 32nd execution carried out under Governor Ron DeSantis and the seventh execution in the United States this year. Family members of the victim, including her husband Nathan Lee, stated that the execution brings closure to a long legal process. Investigators noted that forensic evidence left by the victim in the perpetrator's vehicle was crucial to the conviction. While sources provided varying data regarding national execution statistics, it remains clear that Florida continues to be a primary site for such procedures in the country.
