Meeting between Minister of Finance and DISY leadership
On Tuesday, the Cypriot Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos, held a meeting with a delegation from the Democratic Rally (DISY), led by party President Annita Demetriou. The discussion focused on the economic impact of the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak, the management of foreclosures, and the effects of regional instability on the tourism sector. Minister Keravnos described the meeting as productive and noted that helpful suggestions were provided by the party. Ms. Demetriou emphasized that the government must address these crises through targeted social policies rather than indiscriminate measures. She highlighted the need for financial support and compensation regarding the animal health crisis, noting that the party has submitted written proposals to the Minister. Regarding foreclosures, the DISY delegation stressed the importance of balancing economic and financial stability with necessary social protections for vulnerable citizens. Both sides agreed on the need for strategic planning to absorb potential economic shocks arising from current regional developments.
