Two police officers arrested over assault allegations in Cyprus
Two police officers have been arrested in Cyprus regarding separate incidents of alleged assault. A police constable in Larnaca and a special police officer in Paphos are being investigated for offenses reportedly committed while off duty. The Minister of Justice and Public Order, Costas Fytiris, confirmed that both cases are being handled with severity by the relevant authorities to ensure the suspects are brought to justice. Fytiris emphasized that the state is committed to increasing discipline and accountability within the force. He stated that behaviors inconsistent with the police mandate will not be tolerated. Furthermore, the Minister noted that these incidents are being addressed in accordance with the rule of law. He also praised the majority of police personnel who continue to perform their duties with professionalism and effectiveness in the fight against crime.
