State Archive transfers digital records to Grigoris Afxentiou Study Center
The Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture, represented by Deputy Minister Vasiliki Kassianidou, announced the transfer of 258 digital documents from the State Archive to the Grigoris Afxentiou Study Center. These documents originate from the collections of the Special Courts and serve as primary historical sources. The initiative aims to support academic research into the circumstances surrounding the death of Grigoris Afxentiou. Lawyer Ilias Stefanou conducted the study that led to the collection of these records on a pro bono basis. The event highlighted the importance of preserving historical memory and utilizing scientific methodology to study the nation's modern history. The State Archive is now part of the Deputy Ministry of Culture, which oversees its integration into broader national cultural policies. The Ministry emphasized that these records are essential for deepening the understanding of the country's historical identity and legacy.
