Cyprus participates in Global Money Week 2026

From March 16 to 22, 2026, Cyprus is participating in the annual Global Money Week, an international initiative organized by the OECD for the 14th consecutive year. The Central Bank of Cyprus is leading the national coordination of the campaign in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth, the Ministry of Finance, the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), and various academic and professional organizations. This year's theme is titled 'Smart Money Talks,' which aims to encourage young people to discuss financial topics openly and overcome the stigma surrounding money management. The campaign focuses on providing students with the skills necessary to handle complex financial issues, including personal budgeting, investment products, and protection against financial fraud. Activities include lectures and presentations at schools and universities nationwide. A notable opening event was a lecture delivered by CySEC Vice-Chairman Panikos Vakkos at UCLan Cyprus. The primary goal is to foster financial literacy and help young people make informed and responsible financial decisions for their future economic well-being.
