Eratosthenes Centre and Eurogate sign memorandum of understanding for port technology
On March 11, the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence and Eurogate Container Terminal Limassol Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding to advance port operations through technology. The ceremony took place during the EXCELSIOR Space Industry Day: Synergies and Collaboration event at the Blue Economy Innovation Centre in Limassol. The agreement was signed by Professor Diofantos Hadjimitsis, CEO of Eratosthenes, and Alexandros Dimitriadis, COO of Eurogate. The partnership focuses on implementing advanced tools, including Artificial Intelligence, Geographic Information Systems, and Earth Observation data. These technologies aim to enhance operational efficiency and modernize the infrastructure of the Limassol port. Professor Hadjimitsis acknowledged the role of Dr. Dirk Roland Haupt, Deputy Head of the German Embassy in Nicosia, in facilitating the strategic introduction between the two organizations. Members of the Eratosthenes Marine Security and Safety research team have already initiated visits to the port to begin foundational work.
