European conference against racism held in Brussels
The European Conference against Racism 2026 took place on March 17 in Brussels. The event was co-organized by the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU and the European Commission. Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Klea Papaellina represented the Cypriot Presidency at the conference. Attendees included representatives from EU institutions, member states, international organizations, civil society, and equality bodies. The main objective was to address racism and discrimination across Europe. During her intervention, Papaellina emphasized that despite the EU's existing legal framework, inequalities persist in daily life. The conference assessed progress made under the 2020–2025 Action Plan. Furthermore, participants welcomed the new EU Strategy against Racism 2026–2030, aimed at advancing equality and social inclusion.
