UN report cites mass displacement of Palestinians in West Bank

A report from the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights covering the period from November 2024 to October 2025 indicates that over 36,000 Palestinians have been displaced in the occupied West Bank. The document characterizes this trend as a mass eviction on an unprecedented scale. The UN has called on Israel to immediately halt the expansion of settlements, citing potential indicators of a coordinated state policy of forced displacement. These findings raise international concerns regarding the possibility of ethnic cleansing. Data within the report notes that Israeli authorities have promoted or approved 36,973 housing units in East Jerusalem and 27,200 units in the rest of the West Bank. Currently, approximately 500,000 Israelis reside in settlements within the West Bank, an area home to about three million Palestinians. The UN previously highlighted concerns on February 19, citing methods such as systematic neighborhood destruction, the restriction of humanitarian aid, and intensified attacks as contributors to the displacement crisis.
