Titian exhibition at Musée Condé showcases scientific analysis of his work

An exhibition titled 'Titian, Ecce Homo: From Cyprus to Chantilly – Science at the Service of Art' opened on March 7, 2026, at the Musée Condé in the Château de Chantilly, France. The event will run until June 14, 2026. It features two works by the Renaissance painter Titian, both depicting the 'Ecce Homo' theme, which illustrates Christ presented by Pontius Pilate before his crucifixion. The first painting comes from the Pitta collection and includes additional figures, while the second is part of the Musée Condé collection and portrays Christ alone. The exhibition highlights the role of the Cyprus Institute in conducting advanced scientific analysis on the pieces. These investigations have uncovered new information regarding Titian’s artistic process, techniques, and the materials used in his Venice workshop. The Musée Condé is recognized as France's second-most important art collection after the Louvre.
