Customs and police seize illicit goods in Ayia Napa

On March 14, 2026, officials from the Customs Department and the Police unit for intellectual property theft conducted a coordinated operation in Ayia Napa. Authorities inspected two premises suspected of selling illegal goods, leading to the confiscation of various items. At the first location, officers seized 39 packs of cigarettes, 250g of rolling tobacco, over 1kg of shisha tobacco, 59 packets of tobacco pouches, 53 packs of chewing tobacco, and 69 packets of nicotine pouches. The owner was arrested and later released after paying a €1,000 out-of-court settlement for the tobacco-related offenses. At the second location, authorities confiscated 160 items of counterfeit clothing and accessories, alongside 444 packets of nicotine pouches. The second owner paid a €350 settlement and agreed to the destruction of the counterfeit goods. In both cases, the nicotine pouches were surrendered to the Ayia Napa police station for ongoing investigation. Customs authorities stated that such enforcement operations will continue.
