DRA.S.E.+ school inclusion program statistics for 2023-2024
During the 2023-2024 academic year, the DRA.S.E.+ program, which stands for School and Social Inclusion Actions +, covered 28% of the student population in Cyprus. To support the program, the Cabinet decided to appoint 50 kindergarten teachers and 228 primary school teachers on full-time contracts. These educators were tasked with teaching Greek as a second language and providing remedial education. Additionally, approximately 315 part-time teachers were hired under fixed-term contracts for creative activities and remedial instruction at the secondary level. The program was implemented in 55 public kindergartens, 91 primary schools, 29 middle and high schools, and three technical schools. Participant schools were selected based on objective, measurable criteria regardless of their geographic location. The primary goal of the initiative is to support students living below or near the poverty line and to enhance the educational system through targeted interventions.
