Limassol municipalities partner with University of Cyprus for urban planning
The municipalities of Limassol, Amathounta, and Polemidia have signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the University of Cyprus. The partnership was announced at the Panos Solomonidis Cultural Centre by mayors Yiannis Armeftis, Kyriakos Xydias, and Andros Theodorou. This initiative is part of the 'Limassol 2030 – Climate-Neutral and Smart City' project. The collaboration focuses on the 'Model Integrated Sustainable Mobility, Spatial and Urban Planning and Development of Limassol' project. The primary goal is to create a scientifically based development plan to guide the city's growth over the coming decades. Key objectives include achieving climate neutrality by 2030, reducing automobile dependency, and improving urban living conditions. The project has a defined implementation period of 42 months. Public consultations and citizen updates are planned throughout the process to incorporate local feedback.
