Tree-planting initiative in Limassol

The Municipality of Limassol has launched an environmental initiative to plant 400 new trees at the Garyllis River estuary and along Aktaia Odos. The planting includes 250 eucalyptus trees and 150 pine trees. While a community event was scheduled for Saturday, it was postponed due to adverse weather conditions. However, a portion of the planting was completed on the preceding day when weather conditions were favorable. This project is part of a broader urban regeneration plan for the area, which also involves the construction of a bridge connecting the city center to the new port, as well as the addition of pedestrian and cycling paths. Local organizations, companies, and volunteers were invited to participate to promote environmental sustainability. The municipality intends to announce a new date for the postponed community planting event in the near future. Ongoing cleanup activities are also being conducted in the area as part of the wider development works.
