Stefanos Tsitsipas drops out of the ATP top 50 rankings
On Monday, March 16, the ATP released updated world rankings in which Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas fell eight places to number 51 with 995 points. This marks the first time in nearly eight years, since April 2018, that the 27-year-old athlete has dropped out of the top 50. The decline follows a series of poor performances, including an early exit at the Dubai tournament. Tsitsipas is currently competing in the Miami Open, where he aims to improve his standing before the clay court season begins. In the same update, Carlos Alcaraz maintained his lead in the ATP rankings, while Indian Wells champion Jannik Sinner narrowed the gap at the top. Additionally, Maria Sakkari climbed to 33rd place in the WTA rankings with 1,410 points. Aryna Sabalenka remains the WTA leader, while Elena Rybakina overtook Iga Swiatek to secure the second position.
