Conflict between Israel and Iran enters third week
The military conflict between Israel and Iran entered its third week on Monday, with Israel announcing operational plans to continue strikes for at least three more weeks. Israeli spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani confirmed that the military, having mobilized over 110,000 reservists, aims to degrade Iran's ballistic missile infrastructure, nuclear facilities, and security apparatus. Recent Israeli overnight strikes targeted locations in Tehran, Shiraz, and Tabriz, as well as sites connected to Iran's space program. Iranian reports, including those from the Mehr news agency, stated that five people were killed and seven wounded in Markazi province, with damage reported to a school in Khomein. Simultaneously, Iranian drone attacks led to the temporary closure of Dubai International Airport and caused damage to a key oil facility in the United Arab Emirates. The Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed to tanker traffic, disrupting the transit of 20% of global oil and liquefied natural gas, which has caused energy prices to rise. U.S. President Donald Trump has called for an international coalition to reopen the shipping route. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated on Monday that Tehran has not requested a ceasefire.
