Court postpones bail hearing for German real estate agent in property case
The Permanent Assizes Court of Nicosia has postponed the bail hearing for Eva Isabella Kuenzel, a German real estate agent accused of involvement in the misappropriation of Greek Cypriot properties in the occupied territories. The hearing, which has been pending since January, was rescheduled for March 18, 2026, at 09:00. The prosecution requested the delay because their representative, Anna Matthaiou, was not prepared to present arguments on the matter. The court accepted the postponement to conserve judicial time, ordering the defendant to remain in custody until the new date. Defense attorney Sotiris Argyrou expressed strong dissatisfaction with the court's decision and the conditions at the Central Prisons. He reported difficulties in meeting with his client, noting inadequate space for private consultations and the presence of guards during sensitive meetings. The defense argues that new evidence justifies a reconsideration of the bail request.
