Cyprus Sports Organization presents balanced 2026 budget
The Cyprus Sports Organization (KOA) has presented a balanced 2026 budget totaling 60,020,150 euros to the Parliamentary Committee on Financial and Budgetary Affairs. Chairman Giannis Ioannou stated that this budget is aligned with the 2025-2027 strategic plan, focusing on four pillars: promoting sports for all, strengthening competitive sports, developing infrastructure, and administrative and digital modernization. During the session, discussions also addressed reports of sexual harassment in sports. Ioannou confirmed that the organization maintains a strict stance on such cases, reporting that one case has already resulted in a conviction while another is currently ongoing. Victims and their families are encouraged to report incidents through KOA mechanisms or the 'Foni' organization to receive psychological support. Furthermore, the organization highlighted efforts to support women's sports, including increased funding for first-division football teams and improvements to locker room facilities.
