Public sector employment statistics for 2025

According to the Statistical Service, public sector employment in 2025 reached 76,726 people. This includes 71,675 individuals in the General Government and 5,051 in government-controlled enterprises. Compared to 2024, total public sector employment rose by 1,373 people, an increase of 1.8 percent. Specifically, General Government employment grew by 1,684 positions, while employment in state-controlled enterprises fell by 311. In the fourth quarter of 2025, the total number of employees reached 78,124. This total comprises 55,215 in the Central Government, 11,566 in Non-Profit Organizations, and 6,225 in Local Authorities. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, employment increased by 1,287, or 1.7 percent. The rise in Local Authorities is attributed primarily to the strengthening of staffing in provincial administrations.
