Post-carnival cleanup operation in Limassol
Following the Limassol Grand Parade, the City Friends Club organized a cleanup operation on Arch. Makariou III Avenue. More than 500 volunteers participated, representing a tenfold increase from the 50 participants recorded last year. In three hours, volunteers collected 8.5 tonnes of recyclable waste, including 7 tonnes of spray cans. Simultaneously, municipal services removed 50 tonnes of general waste from the area. The sorted recyclables were sent to state-licensed facilities for export to international recycling plants rather than local landfills. This event, described by founder Anna Gubareva as the largest in the organization's four-year history, aimed to promote environmental sustainability following the festivities. The municipal government provided support and finalized the street cleaning for reopening.
