Police arrest two suspects in Nicosia following drug and weapon discovery

Nicosia police arrested a 35-year-old woman wanted in connection with burglary and theft cases at a residential flat. During the operation, officers discovered small quantities of a crystalline substance resembling amphetamine and dry cannabis in her possession. The 35-year-old owner of the flat was also arrested for assisting after the commission of a felony. A subsequent search of the premises revealed a firearm of unknown origin, a shotgun, and several electric scooters and bicycles for which the suspects could not provide a satisfactory explanation. The investigation is being conducted by the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department in cooperation with the drug squad. Both suspects are currently in custody and were scheduled to appear before the Nicosia District Court for remand hearings. While some sources mention a court appearance on Friday and another on Monday, both agree on the nature of the charges and the seized items. Further investigations into the origin of the weapons and the ownership of the stolen goods are ongoing.
