Cyprus government official reaffirms commitment to resuming reunification negotiations

On Sunday, Cypriot Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis announced the administration's commitment to ending the current deadlock in the Cyprus problem negotiations. Speaking at a memorial service for hero Dimitrakis Papamiltiadis in Agia Marina Xyliatou, Letymbiotis emphasized the government's desire to resume substantive talks from where they previously stalled. He stated that the government remains dedicated to a solution based on international law, United Nations Security Council resolutions, and European Union principles. The spokesperson reiterated the goal of establishing a state free from foreign occupation troops and outdated guarantee systems. He acknowledged the existing challenges and difficulties but insisted that the government would not deviate from the path of international legality. This message reflects the broader policy previously outlined by President Nikos Christodoulides.
