Cypriot websites targeted by series of ddos cyberattacks
Over the past several days, various websites in Cyprus have been targeted by Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks. George Michaelides, the Commissioner of Communications, confirmed the incidents, characterizing them as frequent, simple, and low-skill attacks that overload servers with artificial traffic. During these events, users are temporarily unable to access the affected websites. Michaelides stated that there is no identifiable pattern to the targets, which include both government and non-government pages. Regarding the timing, the Commissioner suggested the activity could be coincidental, linked to regional developments, or related to the upcoming Cypriot presidency. The Digital Security Authority (DSA) is monitoring the situation 24/7 and providing updates to critical infrastructure. No specific motive or culprit has been identified, and officials remain largely reassuring about the impact of these incidents.
