Cyprus Cycling Federation expresses concerns over Leventis Foundation scholarships

The Cyprus Cycling Federation has officially expressed concern and regret regarding the exclusion of cyclists from the current annual list of scholarships awarded by the Leventis Foundation. Despite cycling being one of the six federations that consistently represent Cyprus at the Olympic Games, no cyclists were included in the list of recipients. The Federation emphasized the high personal costs athletes and their families incur for equipment, preparation, and international travel. Recently, Cypriot cyclists achieved an 18th place finish at the World Cycling Championships, as well as 12th and 16th places in European Championships. The Federation argues these results demonstrate the sport's high level of competitiveness. They claim that the lack of support sends a discouraging message to athletes and their families. Furthermore, the Federation noted that the next Olympic qualification cycle begins in one month. They stated that any failure to qualify for the next Games would be due to a lack of institutional support rather than a lack of effort from the athletes.
