Recent explosions targeting property in Limassol and Nicosia
Two separate explosive incidents occurred in Cyprus between March 14 and March 16, 2026. On the night of March 14, an improvised explosive device detonated outside a gym in Nicosia owned by a 35-year-old and a 39-year-old, causing damage to the storefront and a nearby vehicle owned by a 29-year-old woman. Early on Monday, March 16, a second explosion damaged a car belonging to a 45-year-old woman in the Agios Spyridonas area of Limassol. This blast also damaged a second vehicle owned by her relative. Police are currently investigating potential links between the Limassol incident and a separate vehicle fire in the Zakaki area on the same morning. While authorities are examining security footage for the Nicosia gym attack, the owners have stated they have no known disputes. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and testimonies regarding both the Limassol and Nicosia cases.
