Regional conflict impacts Dubai and Fujairah facilities

Dubai is experiencing daily aerial threats, with UAE authorities reporting the interception of 285 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,567 drones since the start of the conflict. While officials claim a 90% success rate for interceptions, debris has impacted residential areas, a luxury hotel, and the vicinity of Dubai International Airport. On Saturday, an additional security incident occurred at the port of Fujairah, where oil loading was temporarily suspended following a fire caused by drone interception debris. The port is strategic as it serves as the terminal for the Habshan pipeline, allowing oil exports to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. These events have disrupted business activities in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), with many firms shifting to remote work and some foreign employees leaving the region. The city, which is home to a large expatriate population including 240,000 British citizens, currently faces questions regarding its long-standing image of stability. While local authorities emphasize their defensive capabilities, the recurring debris impact has caused visible damage to high-rise buildings and public infrastructure.
