Government allocates wildfire relief funds to Limassol communities
President Nikos Christodoulides announced that €890,000 in private donations, collected following the July 2025 wildfires in the Limassol mountain region, will be allocated directly to the affected communities for local projects of their choice. This initiative is part of a broader €60 million government support plan. Key expenditures include €400,000 for emergency community council needs, €850,000 to bolster operational capacity, and €2.3 million for 300 families. Property damage compensation for approximately 940 applications is estimated to reach €30 million, with €3.3 million already paid to 1,435 farmers and livestock breeders. While the Treasury reported total public and corporate contributions of €1,741,849 from 1,469 donors, the President confirmed the specific distribution of the €890,000 portion. Two individuals tragically lost their lives during the disaster, which the President commemorated during his visit to Pachna. Government agencies have been instructed to provide ongoing support to ensure the selected community projects are successfully implemented.
