Cyprus allocates funds for Limassol fire recovery

President Nikos Christodoulides announced in Pachna that €890,000 in public and business donations, collected following the July 2025 wildfires in the Limassol district, will be distributed to affected communities for local projects. This allocation is part of a broader government support plan with a total budget of approximately €60 million. The support package includes €400,000 for emergency community council needs, €850,000 for improving operational capacity in affected areas, and €2.3 million to cover basic requirements for 300 families. Additionally, 940 applications for property restoration have been assessed with total compensation estimated at €30 million. So far, €3.3 million has been paid to 1,435 farmers and livestock breeders. During the meeting, the president acknowledged the loss of two lives during the fires and thanked volunteers and the state apparatus for their ongoing eight-month recovery effort. State authorities have been directed to assist with the implementation of community-chosen projects.
