President Christodoulides addresses price increases due to regional instability
President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides visited Pakhna in the Limassol mountain region to address concerns regarding rising fuel and commodity prices caused by the ongoing conflict in Iran. He stated that the government is monitoring the situation and currently has measures in place, including zero VAT rates and electricity subsidies. The President announced that the Cabinet will convene this Monday to specifically discuss potential profiteering and ensure that consumers are not exploited. Following the domestic focus, Christodoulides is scheduled to travel to Brussels from Tuesday to Friday. During this visit, he plans to meet with the European Commission President to discuss issues regarding livestock, tourism, and other national interests. He emphasized that the government is prepared to address these regional challenges effectively. Furthermore, he highlighted that the government intends to maintain a clear message regarding the stability of the tourism sector despite international reports.
