Norwegian Royal Palace evaluates lung transplant for Crown Princess Mette-Marit
Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, who was diagnosed with chronic pulmonary fibrosis in 2018, is facing a deterioration in her health condition. The Royal Palace announced in December that her condition has worsened, making a lung transplant a potential necessity. Medical evaluations are currently underway to determine the feasibility of this procedure. Since her last public appearance at the Fredrikstad Library on January 28, the Princess has stepped back from official duties. The Palace communications office stated that she requires increased rest, personalized care, and rehabilitation. Her official schedule is being adjusted to accommodate these health requirements. Previously, she took a one-month leave in October for similar restorative measures. Her husband, Crown Prince Haakon, continues to perform his royal obligations independently.
