Police official arrested for assault and burglary gang detained in Limassol
A 44-year-old special constable in Limassol was arrested and suspended by Police Chief Themistos Arnaoutis following an attack on a mobile speed camera operator on the Paphos-Limassol motorway on March 12, 2026. A 37-year-old man was also previously arrested in connection with the same incident, where the operator was pepper-sprayed and his vehicle damaged. In a separate operation, Limassol CID arrested three Georgian nationals, aged 49, 48, and 39, linked to approximately 40 burglaries of luxury residences between December 2025 and March 15, 2026. The estimated value of stolen goods, including cash, jewelry, and luxury watches, exceeds 7 million euros. The suspects were remanded for eight days by the Limassol District Court and are facing charges of criminal conspiracy and illegal possession of property. Some sources suggest two of the suspects were wanted by Europol for similar crimes across Europe.
