Greek-flagged tanker struck near Novorossiysk
A Greek-flagged tanker was struck by either a missile or a drone while sailing 14 nautical miles off the coast of Novorossiysk in the Black Sea. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy confirmed that the incident resulted in minor material damage to the starboard side of the vessel, but caused no pollution. The ship, which was reportedly carrying no cargo at the time, is continuing its voyage independently. There were 24 crew members on board: 10 Greeks, 13 Filipinos, and one Romanian. All crew members are reported to be in good health. Minister of Maritime Affairs Vassilis Kikilias stated that he has informed the Greek Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs about the event. While some initial reports described the weapon as a small missile, official sources have indicated the potential involvement of a drone as well.
