30th Sofia International Film Festival scheduled for March

The 30th Sofia International Film Festival will take place from March 12 to 31, featuring 12 films in its international competition segment. The Sofia Municipality will award the 'Sofia – City of Film' Grand Prix, judged by a jury led by Hungarian director György Pálfi, alongside members Yana Titova, Matteo Zoppis, Zhanna Ozirna, and Pavel G. Vesnakov. Highlighting the selection is 'Hold onto Me' by Myrsini Aristidou, a Cypriot-Danish-Greek co-production that won the 2026 Sundance Audience Award. Bulgarian actress Maria Petrova stars in the film, and both she and the director will attend the event. Domestic Bulgarian entries include Alexander Kossev’s 'Women Out of Order' and Ralitsa Petrova’s 'Lust'. The competition also features an international lineup including films from Bolivia, Peru, Uruguay, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Canada, Germany, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the United States. While one report notes this is the 24th year of the competition, the festival is identified as the 30th edition overall.
