AEL wins the 2026 basketball cup

AEL Limassol defeated Keravnos 81-79 in the 57th Cyprus basketball cup final held on March 15, 2026, at the Tassos Papadopoulos-Eleftheria stadium. This victory marks the 10th cup title in AEL's history and their first since 2009, ending a 17-year drought. AEL coach Kalia Papadopoulou, who was hired three years ago, became the first woman to coach a professional men's team to a cup victory in Europe. The game saw notable performances from AEL players Flowers, who scored 20 points, and Tate, who was named MVP of the final. AEL reached the final by defeating APOEL 85-76, while Keravnos previously eliminated AEK with a score of 77-71. Prior to this match, Keravnos had won all four previous cup finals against AEL. Club president Michael Loizides dedicated the win to his late father, Louis Loizides.
