Legal proceedings in the Thanasis Nicolaou private criminal case

The Limassol District Court continued hearings on March 13, 2026, regarding the private criminal case filed by the family of the late national guardsman Thanasis Nicolaou. The defendants in this case are forensic pathologist Panikos Stavrianos, former Limassol police chief Andreas Iatropoulos, and three former officers: Nikos Sofokleous, Christakis Nathanael, and Christakis Kapiliotis. Defense lawyers presented preliminary objections concerning the right to a fair trial, alleged failure to disclose evidence, and claims of procedural abuse.
