Nicosia to host the 25th European Throwing Cup
The 25th European Throwing Cup is scheduled to take place in Nicosia on March 14 and 15. The event marks the second consecutive year that the capital of Cyprus has hosted the competition at the GSP Stadium. European Athletics President Dobromir Karamarinov met with Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides and KOEAS President Periklis Markaris to discuss the event. Karamarinov formally declared Cyprus a safe destination for participants, noting that athletes from 34 countries are attending. During the meeting, it was confirmed that Nicosia will continue to host the tournament for a third consecutive year in the future. The event features various Olympic and world champions competing across multiple throwing disciplines. Last year, the inaugural Nicosia edition saw Cyprus secure its first-ever gold medal in the event through athlete Iosif Kesidis. Officials described the high level of international participation as a significant vote of confidence in the organizational capabilities of the Cyprus Athletics Federation.
