Video captures the abandoned Anorthosis club house in Famagusta

A two-minute video circulating on the 'Pride of Famagusta – Glory Days' Facebook page documents the current state of the Anorthosis Famagusta club house. Located at 95 Evagorou Avenue, the building has remained abandoned since the Turkish invasion in the summer of 1974. Known as 'Kallimarmaro', the structure was officially completed and opened on September 10, 1965. It served as a significant site for the club following the destruction of their previous headquarters by British colonial authorities during the 1955-1959 EOKA struggle. The footage shows the interior of the rooms and the main hall, which features an inscription reading 'Anorthosis, Greek Spirit'. The video highlights the building's historical status as a long-held dream and accomplishment of the club's supporters. It remains a symbolic location for the displaced community. The facility has stayed in a state of disrepair due to the ongoing division of the island.
