Investigation into management of Turkish Cypriot property in Paphos
The Turkish Cypriot Property Management Service is conducting an investigation into approximately 110 contracts involving the use of Turkish Cypriot properties by the Paphos municipality. Findings are expected to be submitted to Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou by March 25. Preliminary results indicate that most cases show no irregularities, though some instances of unilateral changes to property use have been identified, such as converting approved green spaces into car parks. Authorities have clarified that there is no evidence of these changes being made for profit. Additionally, four to five specific cases remain under investigation following formal complaints regarding the assignment of properties to the municipality instead of displaced persons. This investigation runs parallel to ongoing legal scrutiny involving suspended Paphos mayor Phedonas Phedonos, who faces allegations regarding the illegal handling of abandoned properties in Moutallos.
