Cyprus U-21 national football team prepares for upcoming 2026 qualifiers
The Cyprus U-21 football team is resuming its 2026 European Championship qualifying campaign. The team currently holds three points in Group 1, following a 5-0 away victory against San Marino in 2025. On Friday, March 27, Cyprus will host group leaders Spain at the AEK Arena at 17:00. Following this, the team will travel to play Finland on Tuesday, March 31, at the Tammelan Stadion in Tampere at 18:00. Preparation for both matches is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 23. Coach Konstantinos Makridis will be without team captain Stylianos Vrontis for the match against Spain due to a suspension. The current group standings after five matchdays place Spain first with 15 points, followed by Finland with 10, Kosovo with 8, Romania with 7, Cyprus with 3, and San Marino with 0.
