Case file of suspended Paphos mayor returned to law office
The case file regarding the suspended Mayor of Paphos, Phedonas Phedonos, concerning allegations of sexual abuse, has been returned to the Law Office of the Republic of Cyprus following the completion of supplementary police investigations. The file was initially submitted to the Law Office on February 26, after which it was returned to the police with instructions for additional inquiries based on witness statements and evidence. The case originates from complaints filed by a businessman and the alleged victim. Phedonos has provided a statement to the Police Headquarters as part of the investigation. In a public statement, the suspended mayor denied the allegations, characterizing them as a coordinated political attack. Separately, police sources indicated that a related allegation concerning the alleged assault of his wife is not proceeding to justice due to a lack of evidence. Additionally, the Service for the Management of Turkish Cypriot Properties is currently investigating several lease cases in Paphos, with findings expected by March 25.
