Intellexa founder Tal Dilian discusses government client base regarding spyware scandal
Tal Dilian, founder of Intellexa and owner of the Predator spyware, stated in an interview with Mega Stories that his company provides technology exclusively to governments and law enforcement agencies. This statement contradicts the Greek government's previous characterization of the surveillance scandal as an issue involving only private parties. The controversy involves the export of Predator software to third countries, with reports suggesting assistance from the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During court proceedings, Lina Katsouda, secretary to Giannis Lavranos, testified that she coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to obtain export licenses under the instruction of Lavranos. Following the disclosure, official Giannis Smyrlis was reassigned to a management position within the New Democracy party and has not been called to testify. Dilian, along with Giannis Lavranos, Felix Bitzios, and Sara Hamou, faces a first-instance conviction for the case with a sentence of 126 years and 8 months of imprisonment. Dilian expressed intent to study the court decision to further contest these charges, maintaining that no evidence linked them to the alleged acts during the trial.
