Deadly shooting at Old Dominion University in Virginia

On Thursday, an armed attacker opened fire in a classroom at the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) facility at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Lieutenant Colonel Brandon Shah was killed in the attack, and two other individuals were injured. According to the FBI, the attacker shouted 'Allahu Akbar' before firing and reportedly intended to mimic the 2009 Fort Hood shooting. Students present in the classroom intervened, neutralizing and killing the perpetrator. FBI official Dominique Evans stated that the attacker was not shot by the students, though details regarding the specific cause of his death were not provided. The FBI has officially classified the incident as an act of terrorism. Local reports indicated the incident occurred around 10:49 a.m. in Constant Hall.
