Post-carnival cleanup event in Limassol

Following the Limassol Carnival’s Grand Parade, over 500 volunteers from the City Friends Club participated in a three-hour cleanup operation on Arch. Makariou III Avenue. Working in cooperation with local municipal services, the volunteers focused on sorting recyclable materials, including plastics, metals, drink cartons, and 7 tonnes of sprays. In total, the volunteers collected 8.5 tonnes of recyclables, while municipal services removed an additional 50 tonnes of waste from the area. This year's event saw a tenfold increase in volunteer participation compared to the previous year. The collected recyclable materials were transported to state-licensed organizations and sent to recycling facilities abroad to prevent landfill disposal. Anna Gubareva, founder of the City Friends Club, stated that this was the largest cleanup in the organization's four-year history. The initiative received support from local municipal authorities and corporate partners.
