Nikos Vourliotis recalls an incident involving the Goin’ Through song at a 2006 telethon

During a television interview on Skai with Fanis Lambropoulos, Greek musician Nikos Vourliotis shared details about a 2006 telethon held at Athinon Arena. Vourliotis stated that Nikos Hatzinikolaou, then news director at Alpha, invited him to perform the song 'Kalimera Ellada' live. During the performance, which included the Spyros Lambrou children's choir, the lyrics contained a controversial phrase directed at government ministers. Vourliotis reported that members of the Cabinet, who were seated in the front rows, exited the venue immediately following the line. He noted that Hatzinikolaou later praised the performance in the dressing room. Additionally, Vourliotis explained the origin of the group's name, Goin' Through, which was suggested by his collaborator of 30 years, Michalis Papathanasiou, to reflect the hardships the band endured before recording their first album. The artist also commented on the contrast between the song's cynical lyrics and the prevailing sense of prosperity in Greece during that period.
