Cyprus parliament passes law regulating diagnostic imaging centers

On March 12, 2026, the Cyprus House of Representatives approved legislation regulating the operation of diagnostic imaging centers. The new law mandates the physical presence of a specialist radiologist during all imaging examinations. This regulation aligns with the original bill proposed by the Ministry of Health. During the legislative process, multiple previously prepared amendments were withdrawn. A new amendment, jointly submitted by the DISY, AKEL, ELAM, and DI-PA parties, was successfully passed. This provision prohibits the performance of diagnostic examinations on animals in facilities that serve human patients. Under this new rule, veterinary diagnostic services must be conducted in specialized centers dedicated to animals. Proposals for further postponement of the vote were rejected by the Plenary session.
