Direct Democracy Cyprus holds digital primary for parliamentary candidates
The movement Direct Democracy Cyprus launched an online voting process at midnight on March 12 to select 56 candidates for the upcoming May parliamentary elections. Citizens are casting their votes via the AGORA digital platform, a process scheduled to conclude on March 14 at 23:59. According to the movement, 26,000 people have installed the application, with approximately 15,500 users currently verified to vote. Voters are permitted to cast one ballot, regardless of their official electoral district. The movement stated that previous legal concerns raised by the Commissioner for the Protection of Personal Data have been resolved. The official announcement of the 56 selected candidates will be made by Fidias Panagiotou on Sunday at 18:00 at Saint George Hall in Limassol. The movement claims participation has exceeded expectations, though specific voter turnout figures beyond the current eligibility statistics were not provided.
