Giorgos Achilleos wins the 2026 Cyprus Grand Prix skeet tournament
On March 11, 2026, the Cyprus Grand Prix in skeet shooting took place at the International Shooting Range in Armenochori, Limassol. Giorgos Achilleos, a 45-year-old athlete from SKOPAF, secured his fifth career title at this event, finishing with a score of 33 successes in the final. He reached the final round with a qualification score of 118/125. The silver medal was awarded to Nikolas Vasiliou, who also recorded 118/125 in qualifications and 32 in the final. Petros Englezoudis claimed the bronze medal with 27 hits in the final after qualifying with 119/125. In the junior category, Markos Kontopoulos won the gold medal for the second consecutive year with a score of 117/125, followed by Kleanthis Kleanthous who took silver. The bronze medal for juniors went to Andreas Pontikis, who defeated Andreas Mikhail in a shoot-off after both tied at 112/125. Achilleos, who is currently ranked 48th globally, is using this season to prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic qualification cycle, which begins in November at the World Championship in Doha.
