Central Bank of Cyprus reports decline in dishonored checks
The Central Bank of Cyprus published data on Thursday regarding dishonored checks recorded in the preliminary list of the Central Information Registry for February 2026. In February 2026, 8 dishonored checks were issued with a total value of €47,460, compared to 34 checks totaling €42,493 in February 2025 and 16 checks totaling €19,388 in February 2024. For the period of January to February 2026, a total of 25 dishonored checks were recorded, amounting to €94,551, whereas the same period in 2025 saw 50 checks worth €84,555. These checks involved 19 individuals, comprising 14 legal entities and 5 natural persons. In February 2026 alone, 7 persons were registered in the Central Information Registry, including 3 legal entities, 1 natural person, and 3 natural persons controlling legal entities. Throughout the first two months of 2026, the cumulative number of persons added to the registry reached 17, representing a slight decrease from the 18 persons recorded during the same timeframe in 2025.
