Kilauea volcano erupts in Hawaii
The Kilauea volcano in Hawaii experienced a new eruption, launching lava fountains up to 300 meters into the air. This marks the 43rd eruption since the current period of volcanic activity began in December 2024. The activity is concentrated at the Halemaʻumaʻu crater. Volcanic ash and debris from the event have covered the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Authorities implemented a temporary closure of the Big Island for safety reasons due to the falling ash and rocks. Located approximately 322 kilometers south of Honolulu, Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes globally. The volcano has displayed intermittent eruptive behavior over the past several months.
