President Christodoulides addresses 30th SEK conference on economic resilience

President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides addressed the 30th Pan-Cyprian Congress of the Cyprus Workers Confederation (SEK). He emphasized the resilience of the national economy, citing high growth rates, a significant fiscal surplus, reduced public debt, and low inflation. The President stated that these factors allow the country to effectively manage regional challenges, particularly regarding the costs of energy, goods, and services. He highlighted the strength of the banking system, noting its liquidity and capital adequacy as buffers against external shocks. Christodoulides also linked a country's progress to the protection and quality of jobs for its workforce. Furthermore, he noted the government's commitment to the European directive on adequate minimum wages. This directive aims to ensure that 80% of workers are covered by collective agreements.
