Cyprus announces temporary measures for third-country nationals due to Middle East crisis
The Deputy Ministry of Migration of the Republic of Cyprus has introduced temporary emergency measures for third-country nationals unable to return due to the instability in the Middle East that began on March 1, 2026. Holders of valid residence permits who have spent more than three months outside the country after February 28, 2026, may now enter Cyprus until April 30, 2026. The same extension applies to those holding proof of pending or approved renewal applications for residence permits, provided the three-month absence threshold was reached after February 28, 2026. Furthermore, holders of entry permits with expiration dates between March 1, 2026, and March 31, 2026, are permitted to enter the country until April 30, 2026. These regulations bypass standard expiration dates to accommodate disruptions in air travel caused by the regional crisis. The government stated these measures are temporary and intended to provide a reasonable window for those affected to return. No further long-term changes to immigration policy were announced at this time.
